A chat with my younger self....
Time seen through a frosted lens appears to mellow years,
the laughter and the tears become entwined.
I wish I could have told you not to worry, though your fears
were overwhelming for your young and troubled mind.
The truth that I can see now might have saved you from despair,
the nights you just lay there upon your bed,
while in your soul you worried so of things that never were,
crying tears that never needed to be shed.
They say that life's a lesson though I never put my faith
in any teacher who was standing on my dreams,
too many are intent on crushing every little hope from every little mind,
Or so it seems.
So here's a hug from me to you my younger, anxious self,
I want to reassure you all is well.
I want to let you know that every dark and gloomy night
does lead to sunshine, though at times it feels like hell.
And through it all, the lesson learnt was be kind from the start,
be tolerant of others but stay free.
Be wary of those people who may seek to change your heart
- for they are wrong,
because the truth in you is
